On December 3, our college held the final defense of the fourth“Challenge Cup”College Students' extracurricular academic and technological works competition in the social work laboratory. Liu Hui, director of the Department of administrative management, Fu Guangwei and Zhu Lei from the Department of social work attended the event and served as judges.

Focus on social reality and broaden professional vision. The defense is divided into two parts: presentation report and on-the-spot question and debate. Each team selected accurate topics, ingeniously conceived, focused on social reality, or focused on the value establishment of rural youth, or focused on the employment of retired college student soldiers, or explored new strategies to enrich the spiritual life of rural elderly, or studied the new trend of individual economic development after the epidemic. In the presentation report, each team displays the research results in an all-round way, speaks with data, demonstrates with literature, supports with practice, highlights innovation and characteristics, and shows core concepts and values. In the question and debate session, the judges make sharp comments and questions from the project title, structure, investigation methods and other aspects. The contestants are calm, confident and calm, and answer the questions with excellent professional quality and rich knowledge reserve. At the same time, the judges gave pertinent suggestions for the problems existing in the works.

After more than two hours of wonderful defense, the event came to an end. Liu Hui summed up the competition. He fully affirmed the scientific attitude of the contestants in-depth practice and rigor. He also pointed out the problems existing in the selection and research process of the participating teams, and warned the students to put down their impetuousness, concentrate on research, and pursue truth unremittingly.

It is reported that the competition lasted for more than one month, 51 teams participated in the preliminary competition, and 15 teams entered the final through layer upon layer selection. From the preparation of the work to the final defense, the teachers of our college carefully guide the students to carry out academic discussion, actively participate in the social survey and report writing. The students constantly enrich the theoretical basis in the careful teaching of the instructor, and constantly improve the scientific research ability in social practice. The “Challenge Cup” competition once again shows our students’ spirit of constantly surpassing and challenging, their character of paying attention to and contributing to the society, and their good style of being rigorous, realistic, pioneering and innovative.
