On the evening of November 20th, an academic salon was held in the MPA4 classroom on the second floor of our college with the theme of "Great Changes unseen in China in a century: Achievements and Prospects"-Social Security. Professor Ling Wenhao of our college gave thelecture. Ma Zhenzhu, a graduate student of grade 19 Management class, presided over the lecture, and some graduate students of public management department participated together.
Ling Wenhao first described the birth and development of China's social security. He sorted out some major node events of modern social security in the West and Chinain the way of time axis, and explained the reform and changes of social security in China since the founding of the Communist Party of China with clear logic, which made us have a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the country's social security.Secondly, he interpreted the relevant regulations of social security in the country’s 14th Five-Year Plan. He pointed out that the future direction of social security reform must be to stabilize and expand employment, coordinate labor relations, cover the whole people, coordinate urban and rural areas, improve basic pension and basic medical care, and actively deal with the problem of population aging. Finally, Ling Wenhao put forward suggestions and guidance for our future academic thesis writing direction. He pointed out that our thesis topics should keep up with the times and connect with the reality. The thesis writing must be based on theory and practice, with depth and innovation.
After the lecture, the students had a warm discussion and exchange with Ling Wenhao on social security issues. The whole activity had a strong academic atmosphere, which fully demonstrated the students' love for academic research. Finally, the academic salon came to a successful conclusion in the warm applause of the students.
