From:Feng Dong-xing     Date:2018-05-23    Hits:

The neutralized and unified the Korean Peninsula is a proposal which the Eisenhower Administration had considered in the early Korean Armistice. The proposal recommended to achieve a unified Korea under the Republic ofKorea. After that the Republic of Korea should implement a neutral policy, while the American troops withdraw fromSouth Korea, and the U. S. will no longer conclude an alliance treaty with the Republic of Korea. However, dueto thestrong opposition of the U. S. military and South Korea, the proposal didn't always come true since it was be presented.with the evolution of the situation in the Korean Peninsula, especially the failure of the Geneva conference, the United States finally gave up the proposal. The proposal is only the U. S. unilateral idea, to a certain extent,American emotionalreaction to Syngman Rhee's resistance to the Korean truce and short of objective assessment of the situation, lts ultimatefate reflects neutralization of the reunification of the Korean Peninsula scheme unrealistic in fierce confrontation the ColdWar era.
