on the evening of October 27, the workshop for young scholars of Zhongyuan public management was held in the small conference room on the third floor of our college. Young teachers and graduate students of public management major in our college participated in the activity. The activity was presided over by Liu Hui, director of the Department of administrative management of our college.

In his speech, Liu Hui extended a warm welcome to the participants and made a brief introduction to the forum. The workshop focuses on the frontier issues in the field of public management. It aims to strengthen the communication among young scholars in the academic field and enhance the interest of graduate students in academic research.

At the meeting, Professor Yi Chengzhi, doctoral supervisor of School of international and public affairs of Shanghai Jiaotong University, was invited to give an academic report entitled “promoting the modernization of social governance in metropolitan areas”. He pointed out that the research on urban social governance in big cities should focus on four aspects: technology application and Urban Smart governance, urban risk and security governance, beautiful city and environmental governance, aging and urban pension service provision. Taking the case of Shanghai urban governance as an example, the four aspects are elaborated in detail. He also pointed out that on the issue of how to realize the modernization of governance, we should comprehensively promote the modernization of governance philosophy, governance system, governance structure, governance process, governance technology and governance culture to realize the modernization of social governance in big cities.

The commentators, Li Yongdong and Li Youxue, made wonderful comments. They thought that Yi Chengzhi’s argument was novel and rigorous, and academic research kept up with the trend of the times, which brought a lot of inspiration to young teachers and students. the workshop for young scholars of Zhongyuan public management had a strong academic atmosphere and an active atmosphere.
