Carrying knowledge and traveling thousands of miles, debating all over the campus. From October 15 to November 8, our college held the 2020 “freshman Cup” debate. A total of more than 70 contestants participated in the competition. After fierce competition in the preliminaries, semifinals and resurrection competitions, 16 contestants finally entered the finals.

The finals were held in classroom 1201, complex building of Jinming campus on November 8. The 16 players who entered the final were divided into four teams and played in pairs. Each competition is divided into five parts: opening argument, attack and defense, attack and defense summary, free debate and summary.

Focus on current facts and social development. The first competition takes "whether the 996 mode of Internet enterprises is reasonable" as the debate topic. The first player expounds the rationality of the 996 mode from three perspectives of personal needs, enterprise competition and national development. The first competitor of the other side discussed the double exploitation of the spirit and body of the workers by 996 from the aspects of personal health and unfair salary. During the attack and defense, the debaters of both sides launched an offensive against the flaws, the scene was fierce, and the atmosphere of the competition was constantly warming up. In the process of free debate and summary statement, the two sides are more quoted and sharp in their words. Youth burns like fire, debate shows its edge.In the second competition, there was a debate on whether the online shopping festival is a successful business model. On one side, the debaters had a preconceived idea and made a firm statement. On the other hand, the debater combined the professional knowledge of psychology and economics to expound his views forcefully. Both sides, either directly or indirectly, push the competition to a climax. In the last part of the summary, the debaters of both sides summarized their views with their excellent logical ability and expression ability. Throughout the competition, the debaters were full of witticism, quoting classics, elegant demeanor, quick thinking, and presented an audio-visual feast with strength. After the competition, the judges made detailed comments on the debaters.

In the freshman cup debate, the second group of opponents won the “freshman Cup” debate, and An Chenghao and Liu Yusen were named “the best debaters” in the debate. Jia Yinlan, Secretary of the College Youth League Committee, presented awards to the winners, and the debate ended successfully.

Make friends through debate and learn from others. This competition provides a platform for college freshmen to collide with inspiration and expand their horizons. It fully shows the image of our college students’ diligent thinking and discerning, as well as the college’s upward spirit of seeking knowledge and striving. At the same time, it is helpful for students to enhance friendship, pay attention to current affairs, analyze the society, constantly improve their own quality, and become the youth chasing the dream of the times.
